DescriptionTen years after the founding of Mid-Pacific Institute, seniors in the Class of 1918 published the school's first yearbook titled Ke Anuenue: Mills School Annual. Early yearbooks, called annuals, read more like literary magazines where students documented their school experiences and interspersed the text with photographs and hand-designed layouts. The availability of the printing press after 1900 made this monumental feat possible. Subsequent classes published a robust yearbook each year, except in the year 1919 due to a lack of resources, and in 1942 when the war played a factor in students publishing a condensed volume. Today's Ke Anuenue volumes look and feel much different than they did a hundred years ago, nevertheless, these timeless keepsakes continue to be a treasure trove of student school memories, campus culture, extracurricular activities, student life, and an invaluable glimpse into Mid-Pacific's history.
